Material Union Textile Recycling

Material Union is a community-driven initiative transforming old clothes into new opportunities for Austin, Texas, and beyond. By summer 2025, we plan to open our textile recycling facility, storefront, and community center—creating a space where sustainability, creativity, and people come together. We’ll host free events, sewing classes, on-site mending services, and hands-on workshops, alongside a retail space showcasing local designers. Staying true to our values of inclusivity and accessibility, we’ll always have a “free rack” to ensure everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, has access to clothing. We’re a collective of educators, designers, and changemakers dedicated to rethinking waste as a resource. Through collaboration and innovation, we’re building a future where textiles are reused, repaired, and repurposed—keeping materials out of landfills and in the hands of our community.
