MD More than bricks

Like all successful businesses MD Brick started with very small team, an idea and a garage. Founder, Martin Driene, worked in the building industry with Austral Bricks (a leading brick manufacturer in Australia) for over 12 years and was passionate about the industry. He recognised a gap in the market when it came to offering a more personalised service to small to medium (SMB) sized trades and consumers. The big companies were being looked after, however, the up-and-coming tradies were finding it hard to compete for the same level of service, price and product range. As an expert in the industry, Martin embarked on his journey to service this gap, and in 2006 MD Brick was born. Working from the garage in his Central Coast home, Martin began building his clientele of SMBs needing bricks and other masonry products, offering a personalised service that matched what the larger companies were receiving from the leading brands. Turns out this was a winning formula. It wasn't too long before the business outgrew the garage, has since outgrown 4 premises, and now employs 18 staff across two locations, West Gosford and Minchinbury. Not only has the business grown, but the variety of products has also grown. Initially only distributing bricks and masonry products and then moved into more diverse landscaping products. These included exquisite natural stone, clay and concrete pavers, stone cladding, coloured blocks and retaining wall blocks. Not being content to rest on its success MD Brick continued to evolve. While still maintaining a steady focus on servicing SMBs, MD now stocks and supplies a range of boutique bricks, blocks, pavers and fibre cement cladding to service projects for architects, landscape designers and interior designers.
