Media Standards Trust

The Media Standards Trust is an independent registered charity that aims to find ways to foster the highest standards of excellence in news journalism on behalf of the public, and ensure public trust in news is nurtured. We believe high standards of news and information are critical to the health of our democratic society. These standards are being challenged by the enormous, revolutionary changes in the production, funding, packaging, delivery and consumption of news and information. Currently, our main projects include: - Why Journalism Matters - a series of talks by eminent figures from the media - The Orwell Prize - Britain's most prestigious prize for political writing - Journalisted - a free online journalist portfolio designed to improve public accountability in journalism - Transparency Initiative - a new initiative exploring ways of increasing transparency of online news
