METALAB is a Ukrainian non-governmental organisation working at the intersection of urbanism, culture, social inclusion, and sustainable development. We create solutions to improve the living environment in Ukrainian cities by combining research, design, and community engagement.
Our main areas of focus are creating affordable housing for people who have lost their homes due to the war (the CO-HATY initiative), developing a culture of product design and innovation in materials (the POLE centre), and organising events, research and programmes that shape a new vision for Ukrainian cities.
METALAB supports the values of feminism, transparency, environmental awareness, and social equality. We work at the local level in communities, particularly in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Vinnytsia regions, and we also collaborate internationally with partners in the fields of architecture, housing policy, design, and urbanism.
