At POLE we are growing products. It is a nurturing field for experiments, research, and inventions. POLE is a dynamic center for product design, decentralised production, and hardware innovation, offering a rich array of resources over 1200 square meters, 3 floors, and multiple specialised areas. Located in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, it serves as an experimental field and production facility, where diverse materials and technologies like wood, metal, robotics, 3D printing, textiles, plastic recycling, materials lab and ceramics converge to foster creativity and innovation. The big idea of the project is to establish a nurturing ecosystem for innovation in product design, where professionals and enthusiasts alike can experiment, research, and invent within a collaborative and well-equipped environment. POLE aims to become an internationally recognised hub, propelling businesses and contributing to the development of new products or materials through its initiatives. Impact of the project: POLE’s impact extends beyond its physical premises, as it seeks to cultivate a culture of manufacturing, invention, and product design. It enriches the community with workshops, lectures, seminars, residencies, hardware incubation program and other public events that promote knowledge sharing and professional growth. By fostering connections among curious individuals and providing access to advanced tools, expertise, and comprehensive support programs, POLE significantly enhances the capabilities and opportunities for its users, impacting the broader social, scientific, and cultural sectors. This initiative is led by the urban development laboratory Metalab.
