The MICA Lab aims to contribute to solving the problem of antimicrobial resistance. Our goal is to obtain a better understanding of social interactions in microbial communities and their impact on disease, persistence in the environment and antimicrobial resistance. Building on this knowledge we aim to develop novel antimicrobial strategies targeting communities, with special attention to the evolution-proof character of the proposed approaches. Our field of application ranges from clinical infections, to industrial and agricultural implementations.
