Michael Gill

Michael is a dynamic keynote speaker, innovator, consultant and entrepreneur with a proven track record of driving transformative change in the retail industry. With over 14 years of experience at Walmart across two countries, Michael has held numerous leadership roles, spearheading innovation, and reimagining customer experiences. Starting as a part-time associate at the age of 16, he worked his way up within the world's largest company, leading complex stores and teams, and delivering exceptional business value. Recently as the first ever Director of Innovation Design and Validation for Walmart Canada, Michael played a pivotal role in reengineering multiple key customer experiences, positively impacting millions of Canadians. He also led the establishment of Walmart's first-ever corporate innovation team, Blue Labs, from the ground up, driving disruptive and radical innovation within the organization. Michael has been recognized by The Peak as a top emerging leader in Canada and applauded by the Financial Times for his outstanding work in covid-proofing Walmart stores during the peak of the pandemic. As an entrepreneur, Michael successfully built (and sold) a tech-enabled approach to professional house cleaning, showcasing his business acumen and strategic execution. Now based in South East Asia with his wife and two french bulldogs, Michael is an aspiring music producer and wannabe interior designer.
