About MicroAcoustiX

We bring microfluidics to action! With our expertise in microacoustic/microfluidic systems, we develop Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) based chips and devices for life science applications. Our CleanPlasma technology allows for the automated collection of high-purity blood plasma samples for liquid biopsy applications. The separation of blood cells (and other biological species) with high-frequency sound waves is very gentle, eliminates manual working steps and enhances time and cost efficiency. Our microfluidic CleanPlasma Module can be integrated as an automated sample preparation stage in molecular diagnostics, immunoaffinity methods and point-of-care devices. Our compact microacoustic aerosol source CMACS produces small droplets with a low size distribution and with an adjustable flow rate. It can be applied for standard analytical methods such as mass and ion mobility spectrometry or optical emission spectroscopy, but also for material deposition as well as aerosol and olfactory research. CMACS can be combined with several plasma ionisation sources. Our µAcoustiX manufacturing technology for the integration of SAW transducers and microfluidic channels on wafer level can be applied to customer-specific chip designs and allows for small series as well as mass production. We assist you in the development of your microacoustic solutions and in the extension of your microfluidic systems with actuation and sensing. We provide support in demonstrator preparation including chip manufacturing and miniaturized periphery. µAcoustiX is a startup project originating from the "SAWLab Saxony", the competence and application center for acoustoelectronic fundamentals, technologies and devices of the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research (IFW) in Dresden.
