In the Mid90s, I went to underground hip hop shows solo dolo because I loved the music. I learned about DTC sales from watching independent artists sell takes out of their trunk and backpacks hand to hand to their customers. This taught me more about entrepreneurship than a text book or some classes at school.
I started making playlists on Spotify back in 2015 and now I have close to 300 mixtapes on there. Spotify is a tech platform and back in the early days, I found ways to spike algos to get music that I like heard. This eventually led to me partnering with underground rappers and producers to help get their music heard. Now I see a lane where I bring these same artists to the mainstream but through unorthodox channels like LinkedIn.
I started my record label last year with a project from the rapper Murs out of Cali and a young producer named Wiardon out of Austin, TX. This summer I have 2 more projects dropping and behind that I have 2 - 3 dropping in Q4. I’m helping rappers and producers think outside the box on how they get their music seen and heard.
I roll with the rappers, producers, skaters, and creatives with all that I do. My experience in the digital space has opened up doors for me to pursue a passion I never thought was possible. But you see, it’s all going to tie back into everything so seamlessly that you won’t know what hit you.
