Motiváció Műhely – Motivation Collective

Our NGO was established in 2012 to support the social integration of underprivileged children and youth, primarily from Roma backgrounds, by helping them acquire the skills and confidence necessary for a conscious and empowered adulthood. We focus on building a community that promotes social dialogue, active citizenship, social responsibility, sustainability, and dispelling myths about the Roma minority. Our Student Mentoring Program was launched as a response to the closure of a segregated school in Szeged, then in 2013, we opened our first after-school center, Tanoda, where university professors, teachers and teacher trainees work together to support our mission. In 2017, we opened another Tanoda in Balástya. For the children attending these programs, we offer support in areas such as reading comprehension, mathematics, and environmental education, including climate change, along with workshops on topics like democracy, advocacy, gender inequalities, or women’s reproductive health. We actively embrace social responsibility by raising awareness on issues like period poverty and climate change through public discussions. As a community committed to local engagement, we aim to make Szeged more inclusive and welcoming. To further this goal, we organize events such as boardgame clubs, thrift sales, science-for-all workshops. Our community center (HUB) also provides space for other NGOs and civil society organizations to hold events that align with our values.
