In 2010, somewhere in Accra, Ghana, on the porch of a home, the first mSimps accessory was created; a dress brooch made of African print fabric. The idea of setting up a creative enterprise was born, out of love for arts, creativity and african print fabrics.
Years later, we have grown our product lines and find ourselves making handcrafted leather laptop bags, handbags, backpacks, men leather slippers, reusable shopping bags, throw pillows, notebooks, kimonos, reversible jackets… We pride ourselves in being a one-stop-shop for quality, authentic, Made-In-Ghana accessories and clothing.
Each mSimps product tells a story of time, effort, love, joy, culture and celebrates Ghanaian craftsmanship.
Fabrics, leather and other raw materials are sourced from the local market, empowering men and women to earn a living.
mSimps has largely garnered support via local and international media publicity. At height, we have benefitted from a feature on the BBC and CNBC TV18 and some leading local media platforms. We have participated in local and international trade
exhibitions which include SIATEX in South Africa, NY NOW in New York, Joy fm Beauty and Bridal Fair in Ghana amongst others.
Awards and recognition include: finalist in Joy fm My Business 2011, 2nd Runner Up UT Bank/Enablis Business Plan Competition 2012, Best Handbag and Purse Product at Ghana Made Awards 2013, Accessory Brand of the Year Award at Glitz Africa Fashion Week 2013 and Accessory Brand of the Year at Fashion Icon Awards 2015 and JCI Top Ten Entrepreneurs Award 2015.
mSimps supports other start-up brands by offering its retail space to 6 vibrant brands (with 5 of them led by astute female entrepreneurs) by stocking their products.
The community isn’t left out. They are equiped with employable skills to help them earn a livelihood to cater for themselves and dependants.
