MSUM AFRICAN STUDENT UNION (ASU)

We represent the 300+ students of African descent on campus as well as the entire student body, with the aims and purposes to: • Foster the awareness and appreciation of the various cultures of the African continent. • To promote African development and entrepreneurship, by preparing future leaders that will serve the African continent and help relieve it from the socio-political and economic crises that ravaged its member states for a period of more than 300 years. • Conduct socio-cultural activities that provide a social atmosphere where students, faculty, and the community, can celebrate and learn about African culture and traditions. • Build relationships with other organizations, and promote the development of inter-cultural understanding. • Provide a means for the meaningful discussion, exploration and celebration of all things politically, socially, and culturally African
