Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies at Freie Universität Berlin

The Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies (MvBZ) is an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented central facility of Freie Universität Berlin. The MvBZ is dedicated to developing and implementing innovative measures to promote, network, and showcase gender studies at Freie Universität Berlin. One of the central tasks of the MvBZ is to support, promote, and implement gender and diversity-related teaching and research projects within the field of gender studies. The center also provides students and researchers with opportunities for academic exchange and collaboration through workshops and events. The center builds upon the legacy of the "Central Institution for the Promotion of Women's and Gender Studies," established in 1981. With the reestablishment under a new name in 2016, slightly different focal points were defined and internationalization and digitalization were established as cross-cutting topics.
