About Navigo
Navigo is a nonprofit, open source project developing AI tools to make navigation safer for pedestrians with visual and mobility challenges. We use AI algorithms, aerial LIDAR scans, and municipal data to map pedestrian hazards (e.g. bike lines, poor quality sidewalk) and pedestrian benefits (e.g. shade, curb cuts). We translate this data into an immersive mobile app navigation experience that provides advance routing and realtime feedback as pedestrians navigate. We also build bluetooth based IOT hardware to help with indoor navigation in hospitals and transit stations. Our partners include Harvard University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Perkins School for the Blind, the MBTA, the VA Low Vision And Blind Rehabilitation Clinic, the Mobility Enhancement and Vision Rehabilitation Center at Harvard Medical School, and the Cambridge Commission for Persons with Disabilities
