We are a team of researchers dedicated to building a community of clinicians, researchers, families and public health partners to advance newborn screening research. We assist members of NBSTRN in translating their research into real-world applications that will help save and improve the lives of newborns and children.
For over 60 years, ground-breaking investigations by researchers have delivered new technologies and therapies that enable the early detection and treatment of disease in newborns. NBS related research has resulted in all babies in the United States having access to screening for up to 81 conditions, regardless of race, income or location of birth.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) through a contract with the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG), NBSTRN has grown into an international network involved in supporting cutting edge research, population-based pilots and ethical, legal, and social (ELSI) discussions.
