NewFoodSystems arbeitet an neuen Ansätzen für die Ernährung von morgen. Der Innovationsraum bietet den Rahmen für die Erforschung und Entwicklung neuer, marktreifer Produktionsweisen und Anbauverfahren für die nachhaltige Erzeugung von Lebensmitteln.
Eine ganzheitliche Bewertung begleitet die Entwicklung neuer Produkte und Verfahren. Diese berücksichtigt Qualität und Sicherheit, Verbraucherakzeptanz, Wirtschaftlichkeit, Marktfähigkeit, ökologische Nachhaltigkeit sowie den jeweiligen Rechtsrahmen und trägt somit zu einer erfolgreichen Überführung in den Markt bei.
NewFoodSystems ist einer von insgesamt vier Innovationsräumen des Programms „Innovationsräume Bioökonomie“ der „Nationalen Forschungsstrategie BioÖkonomie 2030“ des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF). Das Vorhaben wird mit bis zu 20 Mio. Euro gefördert.
