<< NATIONAL FOOD LABORATORY (NFL) - Chennai, India >> About NFL : NFL - Chennai is established on PPP mode between FSSAI and NCML Labs for Testing and Certification. This lab is NABL accredited (ISO 17025: 2017) and is recognized by FSSAI as a Primary Notified and Referral Laboratory (Section 43 of Food Safety and Standards Act - FSSA, 2006). About FSSAI : The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was established on 05 September 2008, a nodal regulatory and statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. FSSAI was established to implement the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) 2006. The FSSA 2006 was born from the consolidation of various Acts & Orders on food regulations, which various Ministries and Departments under the Government of India then handled. FSSAI has been created to lay down science-based standards for food products and regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure safe and wholesome food for human consumption.
