Nicholas Kirk Architects

Who are we? Nicholas Kirk Architects are an RIBA Chartered Arts and Architecture practice. We are architects borne from a culture of curating complex projects for the public, Local Authorities and stakeholders, and conversely producing smaller educational, residential, and cultural projects for small companies and private clients. We often collaborate with others to deliver larger, more complex projects including other architects, engineers, craftspeople and makers. Our aim is simple: to design and deliver the best and most creative outcome for our clients. We aim for optimum output at a fraction of the time and cost of bigger practices. - We spend more time designing what mattes most. - We coolly and efficiently deliver the essentials. - We integrate environmental and sustainable issues. - We are responsive - we turn around information quickly. - We operate in an agile way - we are smarter and leaner. - We avoid the overheads and time lag of bigger practices. - We reflect operational efficiencies in our fee. Our ambition is to marry creative, innovative design with technical rigour to create budget-optmised solutions. We fuse a small practitioner’s fastidious attention to detail with the systems and workflows synonymous with a big practice. We provide added value for our clients. The built environment, is a rich tapestry of building blocks, brownfield sites and green space with complex programmes, and physical and legal constraints: boundaries, basements, party walls, different use classes sharing access, rights of light etc... Garnham Street is an example of a mixed use scheme with strong historic links to the local community, and an opportunity to deliver something viable and much needed. Giverny and Apertura (located on a World Heritage Site) are two recent examples of rural sites where the ecological constraints became vital drivers for the design.
