Nila Resort: Developing sustainable tourism in SUMBA

Initially, we are a group of friends with very different backgrounds and with one big thing in common: we believe that the future will be green. We decided to join forces and to build a cutting-edge eco-friendly resort in Indonesia. We've all been to Bali and seen how mass tourism can damage a beautiful island's environment and culture. When we discovered the wild, unspoiled island of Sumba, we were amazed by its nature and convinced that it would soon become a very touristy place. Our intention is to demonstrate it is possible to enjoy a luxury vacation without damaging the environment or the local culture. We hope that at our small level, we will be able to make a difference and maybe influence other stakeholders towards a greener and friendlier path.
