NOoSPHERE Arts is a 501c3 led by a team of international creatives whose backgrounds blend arts and sciences. Since 2011, we present multidisciplinary art experiences at the nexus of art & science. Combining music, dance, visual arts, theater, film, poetry & prose, NOoSPHERE Arts’ collaborative productions harness the power of art to drive action around sustainability, migration and diversity.
NOoSPHERE Arts engages audiences and builds community through vibrant public events in its home of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Our current focus is the flagship summer series WE ARE NATURE, which unfolds in rooftop gardens and inspires environmental awareness through commissioned, site-specific works. NOoSPHERE Arts’ international team thinks globally and acts locally to deepen art-science explorations by partnering with local arts and nature organizations and businesses, as well as world-renowned scholars.
Our headquarters plays a critical role in our mission: We are located on the bank of heavily polluted Newton Creek, a Superfund site. At the same time, the Kingsland Wildflowers rooftop community gardens with extraordinary performance space and unobstructed views—of Brooklyn, Manhattan and the largest NYC wastewater facility's—crown the building.
NOoSPHERE Arts works intentionally with these juxtaposed facets—organic & futuristic, industrial & natural, past & present—to bring people together around art and science. The setting fuels artistic inspiration and civic activism to raise awareness about sustainability & environmental justice and build hope through collective action. We also use our platform to amplify historically underrepresented voices, particularly local Indigenous communities. In short, NOoSPHERE Arts empowers artists and our community to build a more equitable, diverse and joyful world.
