Nottinghamshire Deaf Society (NDS) is a registered charity based in central Nottingham. Formed in 1890 by a group of philanthropic church and community leaders who had a vision for a society in which all deaf people can fully participate.
Our vision to day is the same and our purpose is to empower deaf and hearing people so that their lives are enriched.
We do that through supporting, informing, collaborating with others, valuing quality in all we do and challenging the status quo.
Our services and activities include a sign language interpreting service, specialist services for deaf people, BSL qualifications and a community centre for deaf community groups.
That vision continues today and the charity is working to remove communication barriers, improve welfare for deaf people and those with hearing loss as well as advocate for the needs of the D/deaf community.
