NPSC is a CEA-CNRS-UGA joint research team hosted by CNRS/Institut Néel and CEA/IRIG/Pheliqs. The team explores the physical phenomena related to photons, electrons and spin in solid-state systems. Their collective expertise covers MBE and MOCVD growth, nanofabrication, optical studies, and theory of quantum opto-electronics systems.
NPSC has 26 permanent employees and about 30 non-permanent members, who engage in research across the following key areas:
• Epitaxial growth of semiconductor materials, heterostructures and nanostructures (arsenides, nitrides and II-VI semiconductors).
• Optical study of quantum phenomena in the solid state, including effects resulting from the reduction in size to the nano-scale. We are especially involved in the manipulation of individual photons and/or spins.
• Nanofabrication to demonstrate innovative devices or explore new physical phenomena.
• Theoretical research on quantum information devices.
These studies are conducted with the aim of paving the way for future applications in diverse fields such as optoelectronics, spin electronics, energy conversion and management, quantum photonics, and quantum information.
