The Nuclear Reactors Group (NRGroup) belongs to the CeSNEF-Nuclear Engineering Section of the Department of Energy, at Politecnico di Milano. At NRGroup, we are dedicated to advancing research in the field of Nuclear Energy. Our current research and development areas encompass a wide range of topics including thermal hydraulics and safety systems (both modelling and experimental), thermal mechanics, nuclear fuel performance and neutronics, multi-physics and model-based simulation and control, as well as reduced order modelling, machine learning and economics. Since 2000, our focus has primarily been on Next Generation Reactors, specifically Small-Medium Modular Reactors (SMRs) and Generation IV studies such as Lead-cooled Fast Reactors and Molten Salt Reactors. More recently, we have expanded our scope to include research on new generation reactors for Space Applications and energy systems based on renewables (Hybrid Systems) together with a R&D line on fusion reactor technology.
