First established by the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario (PBCTCO) in 2019, the Ontario Building and Construction Tradeswomen (OBCT) committee is made up of Ontario tradeswomen who are working together to advocate for gender diversity in the trades to ensure everyone feels inspired, welcomed, motivated, challenged, and empowered.
OBCT seeks to build awareness among women in Ontario about the benefits of a career in the skilled trades, such as financial independence, job stability, benefits and pension, and growth opportunities. OBCT also works to retain women who have already chosen a career in the trades through support, training, peer mentorship, research, and collective advocacy.
