Two brothers, in the heart of Riga, have embarked on an exciting adventure into the world of craft gin, introducing the world to Latvia's natural riches, creating a unique taste of Latvian gin.
ŌBDO is a Nordic story, born in a nature-loving corner of the Earth, where winters are silver white and people are juniper tough. ŌBDO is inspired by the pure and unspoilt nature of Latvia. Hand-picked and selected leaves, buds, flowers, and berries create the unique bouquet of flavours and aromas of ŌBDO gin, which tastes like home to a true northerner and warmly welcomes everyone else. We like to call it the essence of Latvia, as most of the ingredients are carefully selected from local home producers and distilled in small batches.
Name “ŌBDO” was derived from ancient Livonian language with meaning “silver” and chosen to showcase the traditions and heritage of Latvia. We collaborated with the local farmers, sourcing most of our botanicals from small farms. This not only supports the community, but also enhances the quality of our gin.
Engaging with the local community was and is very important to us, therefore in 2022 ŌBDO gin launched first Open Concept distillery and showroom in Latvia, where people could learn about craft gin production and enjoy tastings and guided tours.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand the range by creating limited-edition gins infused with seasonal herbs, adding excitement and exclusivity to the brand. With our passion, commitment to quality, and connection to Latvian roots, we believe we have inspired a revival in the local gin scene.
