Team Sri Lanka

The NOC Sri Lanka (non-governmental and non-profitable) was inaugurated on 8th April 1937 at a meeting of representatives of the Athletic, Swimming and Boxing Associations. As resolved on this day, the first meeting of the Ceylon Olympic and Empire Games Association was held on 30th April 1937. The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka was recognised by the International Olympic Committee in the same year it was inaugurated – 1937. Accordingly, to the date of recognition of NOCs by the IOC, NOC Sri Lanka stands in 6th place and is, therefore, one of the oldest NOCs in Asia. The dream of many an Olympic Committee Official came true on 25th September 2008 when the “Sri Lanka Olympic House” was ceremonially declared open at No. 100/9F, Independence Avenue, Colombo 7. Our vision is to “Inspire Sri Lankans through Olympism and Sport” Our mission is to “ Develop, Promote, and Protect the Olympic and Sport Movement in Sri Lanka” Also committed to propagating Sports in Sri Lanka and thereby to achieve unity and brotherhood among the different communities living in Sri Lanka and to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition in the World Sports Arena. The NOC Sri Lanka is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation, committed to the development of youth and sport. It is our responsibility to send Sri Lankan Teams to the South Asian Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympic Games.
