The OperA (Operate Anywhere) project aims to facilitate safe and efficient operations in all airspace types (controlled, uncontrolled and U-space) and diverse conditions. This will be achieved through the validation of three different complex IAM (manned eVTOL passenger operations and unmanned cargo operations) in real-life ATM (Air Traffic Management) conditions including contingency and non-nominal situations. It will stimulate the uptake of new sustainable IAM services by addressing Air/Ground integration challenges and the critical transition steps from piloted towards automated flights for 5 key autonomy-enabling technologies at TRL7 (Technology Readiness Level).
In addition, the project will emphasize environmental sustainability by optimizing flight routing to minimize noise footprint and enhance aircraft energy utilization, thus outperforming the next best transport alternative.
