OPERATING TOGETHER

Together We Will Operate... The region containing Israel and Palestine has suffered over a dozen wars since Israel gained its independence in 1948, and unfortunately remains in constant daily political and violent conflicts. Despite ongoing disputes, Palestinian and Israeli medical professionals have for decades been cooperating successfully on many levels, from education to patient care. Regardless of constant instability and political obstacles, patients and surgeons have shared resources and continued to help one another. The idea of Operating Together was formed after seeing an underutilized potential pathway of cooperation through surgery and trauma. We formed the mission to create partnership opportunities and to facilitate working together for the common goal of optimizing surgical care of our communities in Palestine and Israel. Operating Together concentrates on sustainable educational programs, advanced training opportunities, and clinical research. The goal of each project is to make a lasting impact that may be maintained and strengthened with time. The positive impact of our work will be shown by improvements in health care, along with the immeasurable impact of forging relationships between Israeli and Palestinian physicians that will foster an environment more conducive for constructive and peaceful relationships. Operating Together is an organization within the Wolfson Medical Center, working independently and cooperatively with the medical center. The organization will be run by a diverse, and experienced board of directors that will lead Operating Together into achieving projects goals and maintaining a progressive plan for sustainable change.
