Based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda since October 2016, Opportunigee is a self-organised hub that empowers refugees to become job creators and entrepreneurs. Our mission is to provide a collaborative space with internet access, tools, learning resources, skill-building, and project development opportunities for all.
Our structured curriculum, complemented by sessions, talks, and artistic events, fosters creativity and innovation within our community. From filmmakers who write, direct, and produce feature films featuring refugee actors to farmers who collaborate with Ugandan nationals to cultivate crops for the settlement, our community thrives on its ability to think creatively.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of our approach. Our structures incorporate buildings constructed from recycled plastic bottles filled with trash from used polythene bags, earth bags, and interlocking blocks, and provide cost-effective, insulated, and uniquely organic designs. Opportunigee offers entrepreneurial education, life coaching, and mentoring in two distinct phases: personal growth and professional development.
