About OPTIMINER EU Project

Europe's mining industry faces a major challenge—efficiently and sustainably recovering critical raw materials (CRMs) from complex, low-grade ores. The OPTIMINER project tackles this with innovative, AI-driven solutions across five key areas: REMINER – Cutting-edge CRM recovery technologies, including smart ore sorting, bioleaching, and phytomining, all accessible via an AI-powered CRM Recovery Selector. DIGIMINER – A digital platform for smart monitoring and control, featuring a Decision Support System, Virtual Miner assistant, and Digital Twins for process optimisation. ECOMINER – Tools to optimize energy, water use, and waste valorization, enhancing sustainability and resilience. DEMOMINER – Real-world pilot demonstrations across Spain, Greece, Poland, Finland, and Chile, focusing on CRMs such as magnesium, tungsten, REE (esp.Neodymium), copper, cobalt and coaking coal. GLOBEMINER – Promoting global awareness and EU-Chile strategic cooperation to foster market uptake. By combining advanced technology with sustainability, OPTIMINER is shaping the future of Europe's mining sector—maximising efficiency while minimising environmental impact.
