At the heart of inner ear science, we’re a multidisciplinary team of 11 researchers led by Dr. Heiko Locher, exploring the intricate biology of the human inner ear—from its earliest stages in embryonic development to cutting-edge in vitro models. Through our pioneering work with human iPSC-derived inner ear organoids, we tackle challenges from genetic disorders to ototoxicity and viral infections.
With applications spanning RNA therapies for genetic hearing loss to high-throughput screening for protective agents, our lab pushes the boundaries of inner ear research. And we’re branching out, exploring sensory neurons and even the corneal endothelium.
