PREVENTING VIOLENCE - PROMOTING EMPLOYMENT - STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES IN KENYA Our mission is to support communities affected by conflict with resources and tools to move from crisis and poverty to peace and development. PROJECTS Promoting Vocational Skills And Small Businesses The project promotes the professionality and competitiveness of existing and growing small businesses that are run by a multi-ethnic team. It offers customized solutions for disadvantaged business owners to realize their good business idea. The project trains 200 women and young people in basic business skills. Entrepreneurs are accompanied by a coach and mentor, receive business loans and are strengthened through peer-to-peer learning opportunities. Preventing Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) The aim of the project is to achieve improved community knowledge of, and interaction with, safety and security service providers, including the police, in resolving violence against women and girls in Kilifi and Kwale County, at Kenya's Coast. Jamii Thabiti seeks to promote community resilience to violence through a combination of balanced evidence based supply and demand side interventions. Improving Community Safety And Cohesion The Project seeks to improve community safety and security through enhancing communication and collaboration between state and non-state actors. The project is working through local partners, building their capacities, both financial and technical to respond to Peace and Security issues, initially targeting seven counties but with plans to extend in the later years across the country with peace and policy initiatives both at National and County levels.
