payMORAN (Mobile Operated Remittances Across Networks) brings together innovators in mobile money platforms to one table to address the gaps in cash transfer efforts to reach the unbanked in Africa through a joint venture. While each participating technology organizations have a growing network of financial institutions and merchants using their apps and platforms, there is duplication of efforts, and the target users are not being reached, especially the youth, and the pensioners. When fully operational, the PayMORAN will leverage on the popularity of social media and the security of mobile money transactions to ensure timely, affordable, secure fund transfers across borders within the interational legal frameworks
