About Doctoral Programme in Civil Engineering
The Doctoral Programme in Civil Engineering (PDEC) at University of Minho (UM) was established in 2008 adopting an eight-semester curriculum program. The PDEC was reorganized in 2012/2013 in order to implement the Bologna Process. In 2013, the Ph.D. Programme was accredited by Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES). The six-year accreditation has been renewed in 2019 for more six years. PDEC is the doctoral programme in Civil Engineering with the largest student number not only in Portugal but also internationally. At the present time we have 97 students, 83% are international students, from four continents. Furthermore, the field of Civil Engineering at University of Minho is well ranked worldwide (The Structural Division of the Civil Engineering Department of Minho University, for the seventh consecutive year, was in the top 200 of the QS World University Rankings.).
