Phillips Scientific Inc. (PSI) is a niche producer of ultrathin biaxially oriented ePTFE membrane down to 0.1 mil thick. PSI laminates composites of ePTFE membrane with PP, TPU, PET and FEP membrane and non-woven materials. PSI has a patented process for extruding high strength ePTFE tubing from 3mm - 50mm with wall thicknesses down to 0.5 mil. A coil reinforcement can be added to improve kink resistance and burst strength. PSI has developed process technology to cover prosthetic devices including the low-profile ePTFE encapsulation of stent frames of different shapes/geometries without the use of sutures.
