Photon Lighting Design is an independent, Oregon based Emerging Small Business, with over 25 years of experience translating the art and science of lighting design into beautiful, humanistic and sustainable spatial experiences. From small art installations to billion-dollar multi-building campuses, Photon brings a treasure trove of experience, innovation and expertise to your team. At Photon: We believe that good lighting is a right, not a privilege. We design lighting systems that positively impact human emotion, health and wellbeing while minimizing the negative impact lighting systems can have on our planet. We design lighting systems to evolve and adapt with our clients over time. We promise to design responsibly and provide collaborative, sustainable and creative design approaches that support and enhance your vision. Photon Lighting Design is led by Zach Suchara, a nationally award-winning lighting designer and an Oregon registered architect. Zach has led the design of over 600 built and occupied projects in the US, Europe and Asia over his 25-year career in lighting design. His work has received over 150 architecture and interior lighting design awards and over 100 of those projects have been published in local, regional and national publications. Zach has spoken nationally and internationally for the American Institute of Architects, the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Association of Lighting Designers. Outside of Photon, Zach teaches third graders about architecture through the Architectural Foundation of Oregon’s Architects in Schools Program. Zach is also the Board Chair of the Willamette Light Brigade, the non-profit organization responsible for the Portland Winter Light Festival and Illuminate Bridge City.
