O PIEP – Inovação em Engenharia de Polímeros - é o Centro de Interface Tecnológico da Universidade do Minho para o setor dos plásticos e seus setores conexos: automóvel, aeronáutica, espaço, defesa, eletrónica, construção, ferrovia, energia, embalagem, calçado, saúde.
Uma instituição de referência internacional em engenharia de polímeros na promoção da inovação e transferência de conhecimento científico e tecnológico para o setor empresarial.
Fundado a 13 de dezembro de 2000, por iniciativa das principais empresas portuguesas de plásticos e moldes e em estreita colaboração com o Departamento de Engenharia de Polímeros da Universidade do Minho, o PIEP está focado na investigação aplicada e estruturada assim como no desenvolvimento de soluções inovadoras em vários domínios da engenharia de polímeros. O desenvolvimento de materiais, design e engenharia de produtos, simulação de desempenho de produtos e processos, assim como o processamento de polímeros e compostos, são apenas alguns exemplos das nossas competências tecnológicas e multidisciplinares que suportam as necessidades industriais de R&D+i em todo o mundo.

Founded in 2000, PIEP is focused on applied and structured research as well as the development of innovative solutions in various fields of polymer engineering. Material development, product design and development, product,and process performance simulation, as well as polymer and compound processing are just a few examples of our multidisciplinary and technological competencies that support the industrial needs of R&D+i around the world.
