I'm a polymer engineer with a specialization in Design and Manufacturing of Automotive Parts and a PhD in Science and Polymer Engineering.Ressponsibilities as technical manager of several national and European R&D projects and direct projects with the industry, in the fields of material science, computational mechanics, structural health monitoring of critical components, product engineering and product design.I have a solid knowledge and experience in the fields of materials science/behaviour, computational mechanics, numerical computation, product engineering and project management, being author of more than 30 scientific articles and holder of an international patent.Several achievements on my professional career could be cited, however the following ones can be considered the most relevant: 1) design of a hybrid container (steel + composite) for storage of butane gas for domestic application (PLUMA project for GALP company);2) constitutive modelling of self-healing mechanisms for elastomeric materials; 3) development and implementation of a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system for the EH101 helicopter fleet of the Portuguese Air Force; 4) development of an passive Earth Re-entry Capsule (ERC) for Mars exploration included in the European Space Agency (ESA) program; 5) development of numerical methodologies for the simulation of thermoelectric and thermomagnetic phenomena, with application on the design of highly sensitive measuring equipment in the context pf European Space Agency (ESA) programmes;6) implementation of a condition based maintenance (CBM) and damage tolerance analysis (DTA) programs for the Portuguese Air Force, for application in the usage monitoring of the EPSILON TB30 fleet.
