Placemaking BCN was founded by transnational and local experts united by a common passion: to use their professional skills to co-design integrated solutions to place-based community, social and user-centered problems.
Barcelona became the cradle to launch our initiative: we saw that the coming together of talents and skills could lead to a strong and unique placemaking practice in the area.
Placemaking Barcelona acts as a mediator between government entities, stakeholders and communities. We propose community-driven solutions with an ethical conscience. We focus on making places more sustainable and livable, and co-create with communities in order to empower them.
Our work encompasses different skill sets for the creation of public spaces. We study the sustainability and financial aspects of placemaking, conduct social and community research, propose hyperlocal branding and identity development for places and communities, lead participatory and co-creation processes with communities, and are the driver and manager of place transformation.
