Planomatic Architecture

Planomatic Architecture is a collaborative practice that favours a resolutely contemporary approach, focusing on sustainable, at times innovative, yet always feasible ways of intervening in built environments. Founded in Brussels in 2007 by Lucien Kahane and Jean-Philippe Annys, Planomatic Architecture combines a fixed team of specialized collaborators with more occasional partnerships, retaining throughout a lean form of organization. From the start, interventions have ranged from small-scale single-family housing to masterplans, mostly set in (sub)urban areas. Following a competition, we have had the opportunity to build several public schools. Building on this experience, the agency has since further diversified, with recent projects concerning the rehabilitation of former office buildings. Adaptive reuse requires an open and sensitive approach, which often leads to inspiring results. It is in this field in between small and large scale, existing and new, the individual and the collective, city centre and outskirts, that we like to operate.
