About POLINA project

POLINA is a four-year EIC Pathfinder Open project funded by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and supported by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) that started on 1 January 2024. ❇POLINA aims to revolutionise bioprinting, a type of 3D printing that can be used to make structures that imitate natural tissues for safer, smarter and more affordable medical devices. During its lifecycle, POLINA will combine novel light sensitive natural materials along with cutting-edge 3D printing techniques to develop implantable devices compatible with human cells as well as novel research and development tools. ✅The project will focus on three examples related to lung disease to demonstrate the potential of the technology. It will create micropatterned cell surface models to help study lung diseases, make special arrays of cell clusters for modeling lung diseases and testing drugs, and design new tracheal implants. Coordinator: ✔ Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, IE Partners: ✔ 4DCell, FR ✔ Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, FR ✔ University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU), ES ✔ Basque Center for Macromolecular Design and Engineering POLYMAT Fundazioa, ES ✔ Heidelberg University, DE ✔ accelopment Schweiz AG, CH
