Postpartum Progress is a national 501c3 non-profit working to vastly improve awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like postpartum depression, and to provide peer leadership and support for the women who have them. We are the leading awareness raising, patient advocacy organization for maternal mental health, with unmatched consumer engagement. We work to create an atmosphere in which women can recognize when they need help for maternal mental illness, feel safe reaching out for that help, and know that a community of thousands of other mothers stands beside them and behind them.. Key focus areas: raising awareness, providing peer support for pregnant and new mothers, reducing stigma and fostering patient-centered research.
Specific programs/projects:
> We created and publish the world's most widely read blog on maternal mental health (postpartumprogress.com), with 3.5 million pageviews in 2016.
> We created and run the world's largest event raising awareness of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, called Climb Out of the Darkness® (http://postpartumprogress.org/climb-out-of-the-darkness/) with more than 4,000 participants and 150 million media impressions generated in 2016.
> We host the only patient-centered conference on maternal mental health, called the Warrior Mom® Conference (http://postpartumprogress.org/warrior-mom-conference/), which hosted nearly 200 mothers in 2016.
> We run a private patient support forum on the Smart Patients platform with more than 6,000 members, many of whom have no access to local in-person support groups or services of any kind.
> We share our lauded patient education tools freely with tens of thousands of mothers and healthcare providers around the world each year (http://postpartumprogress.org/tools/).
