It was developed by Martin Kay, most recently at the Founder Institute accelerator as one of 210 founders accepted from 1,300 applications to their global program, of which only 74 (30%) graduated.
The Founder bootstrapped the business , developing the strategy, customer need, MVP, investor pitch, development roadmap, design brief, and recruited an Advisory Board.
Presslocal's vision was to provide informative and entertaining local news to high editorial standards, adhering to an editorial code of conduct. All digital, all virtual, all geo-tagged. Spend focused on journalism, engaged with the community, and broad local news topics. An innovative and modern approach, with high levels of visual content, and a strong bias for facts and data over opinion.
The problem Presslocal sought to solve was the provision of local newsfrom a trusted source, on a consistent basis. They know there are important stories not being covered anymore, questions not being asked anymore that matter to local citizens.

Users would decide what local meant to them - their manor, town, village, city - by using map navigation, and by bookmarking favorite locations: their home, where their folks or kids love, and check out trending hotspots.
