Pro Rare Austria – Allianz für seltene Erkrankungen – wurde Ende 2011 als österreichweit tätiger Dachverband für Patient:innenorganisationen und Selbsthilfegruppen im Bereich der seltenen Erkrankungen von unmittelbar Betroffenen und Eltern betroffener Kinder gegründet. Pro Rare Austria ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein, hat rund 120 Mitglieder und versteht sich als aktive Plattform, pro-aktives Aktionsbündnis und vor allem als Sprachrohr für die vielen Anliegen von Menschen mit seltenen Erkrankungen. Die Tatsache, dass sowohl medizinische als auch soziale Rahmenbedingungen in Versorgung und Erstattung für die 450.000 - 500.000 österreichischen Patient:innen verbesserungswürdig sind, verstehen wir als Handlungsauftrag.
