Project INSIEME

As Europe transitions to renewable energy and more diverse prosumers, our energy infrastructure faces increasing complexity. The need for digitalisation and efficient data exchange has never been more critical. Recent European strategies highlight the importance of scalable, integrated, and secure solutions for utilities, service providers, and active energy consumers. Project INSIEME—Italian for "together"—aims to unify and enhance existing solutions into a Common European Energy Data Space (CEEDS). By federating existing data exchange platforms and organizations, INSIEME addresses the key challenges of data integration across Europe, benefiting both regulated domains and market actors. Our objectives include developing standardized data formats, security protocols, cloud-edge connectivity, governance frameworks, and sustainable business models to ensure secure, trusted data exchange across diverse stakeholders. INSIEME will implement core components of CEEDS and pilot them in real-world scenarios across at least 16 EU countries. These pilots focus on critical areas such as energy efficiency, flexibility management, collective self-consumption, grid services, renewable integration, electromobility, and sector coupling. The INSIEME consortium brings together a powerful mix of partners, including leading European companies, innovative SMEs, technology providers, data space operators, energy community platforms, and AI experts. Together, we will carry out 14 field tests (deployments) that include software and hardware integration, driving meaningful engagement with stakeholders at local, national, and EU levels. By fostering collaboration and innovation, INSIEME is creating the foundation for a future-proof, secure, and interoperable energy system across Europe. Project Start: Q2 2025 Budget: 16 Mio.
