Projectasha Initiative company information, Employees & Contact Information

Projectasha.Org is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was founded by Vweta Chadwick in 2004 as a support group for girls who like her suffered an acquired disability due to negligent medical treatment in Nigeria. Over the years, Vweta found that women and girls in general suffered from societal gender inequality and exploitation. In 2013, ProjectASHA (brand name) was formally registered as an NGO called ASHA Empowerment and Development Initiative. Since 2013, ProjectASHA and its founder Late Vweta Chadwick have received numerous national and global awards for contribution to the empowerment of women, girls, and disabled people. We have worked with the Lagos state government on promoting the rights of people with disabilities, campaigning for the sex offenders register (that was signed into law by Governor Fashola), and economic empowerment and sensitization projects in underserved communities across the state. In 2015, we held the Empowering Laugher Gala Night – sensitising Nigerian socialites, elites, and celebrities to the culture of Charitable giving. All proceeds went to the ASHA Sheroes Academy that has so far trained and supported in the region of 6000 women, girls, and disabled people. In 2016 we secured funding grant from Access Bank, to facilitate a national public health campaign to draw awareness to the harmful effect of Obstetrics Fistula in women and girls. In 2017 we - Launched the House of ASHA initiative which designed accessible clothing for people with disabilities. - Partnered with Intel to facilitate the women ICT capacity building program entitled “She Can with ICT”. This event received wide applaud in Lagos State. In 2018 with part funding from Bill Gates foundation and Australian Government, we worked with the Songuro community on training Traditional Birthing Attendants to tackle mother and baby mortality during childbirth. To date, we have expanded and impacted the lives of 10,000+ girls and women.
