Project Hifazat is an initiative by Enactus Khalsa that aims to tackle the problem of waste mismanagement, which includes waste segregation and conversion of the same into an asset for society, such as seed balls and compost, sold at extremely affordable prices.
The project has the support of government regulators such as the Indian Council of Agriculture and Research. It caters to 6 major SDGs and has been able to create a huge impact in the areas of Shastri Park. The project has sensitized the community within Unity Apartments through wall paintings, nukkad nataks, etc.
The project has prevented the entry of 6 tons of harmful waste into the environment, decreased the emission of 40 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, engaged 3 entrepreneurs in this initiative, and influenced life of 3000 people through online and offline channels thereby encouraging afforestation and enhancing soil quality through seed balls and compost. Additionally, it has also promoted waste segregation at the source by advocating for two dustbins per household.
