PRONATEC has been a pioneer in the global organic and fair trade movement for more than 45 years. We supply our international customers in the food and cosmetics industries with premium-quality, certified ingredients. Our product range includes semi-finished cocoa products, chocolate and coatings, sugar, vanilla and spices with a variety of organic and Fairtrade labels. Since 2022, we have been processing organic cocoa beans into cocoa mass, butter and powder at our newly opened plant PRONATEC Swiss Cocoa Production in Switzerland – the world’s only exclusively organic cocoa processing company. From procuring the beans from small-scale farmers, through fermentation and export to processing and sale of the finished product, all stages of the process are in PRONATEC’s own hands. As a matter of principle, we do not purchase raw materials from anonymous traders or exchange markets, but as directly as possible from smallholder organisations. We know the producers in person and have established a long-term partnership. We take on social responsibility and work on improving the livelihood of the smallholding farmers. Thanks to the close cooperation with the people in the countries of origin and our own staff, we guarantee a constant high quality and 100% traceability. This is checked and confirmed by regular audits from independent organisations. Since it was first founded in 1976, PRONATEC has grown along with its customers and smallholders and in 2021 its turnover reached CHF 78 million. Today, PRONATEC employs around 60 people at its headquarters in Winterthur and about 30 at the production site near the Rhine Falls in Northern Switzerland, as well as another 300 in the countries of origin.
