Pronk Technologies designs and manufactures innovative miniaturized test equipment for biomedical technicians to use in the hospital environment.
Pronk incorporated in 2004 shortly after founder Karl Ruiter asked biomeds at a California Medical Instrumentation Association (CMIA) meeting how a test equipment manufacturer could make their jobs easier. He learned just how much of a need there was for portable, rugged, and easy-to-use products. With this idea in mind, he developed the SimCube® non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) simulator, the first hand-held NIBP tester with single-button operation. Ruiter’s experience was a life lesson that the best ideas often come from the people who use a product day in and day out. The product was very well received by the HTM community, and changed the way biomeds worked in the hospital. Previously, test equipment was expensive, bulky, and shared among a team of biomeds. With Pronk's innovative test kits, hospitals could afford to outfit each biomed with his or her own complete vital signs simulation equipment, allowing biomeds to test medical devices like patient monitors directly on the hospital floor.
