ProtectedSeas began in 2015 with a mission to develop innovative technology solutions that promote awareness of vital marine protected areas. Now, the ProtectedSeas team has developed the most comprehensive resource of regulatory information of marine protected areas worldwide and a unique marine monitoring technology that enhances awareness of and compliance with ocean protections, the ProtectedSeas Navigator and the Marine Monitor (M2). ProtectedSeas Navigator is a publicly available dataset of boundaries and regulations for marine protected areas (MPAs) and marine managed areas (MMAs) globally. Navigator contains regulatory information for 22,000 marine protected areas, in 200 countries & territories, with translations in 25 languages. Marine Monitor (M2) is a low-cost radar system that provides situational awareness of human use in and around nearshore marine managed areas. M2 provides continuous data collection year-round without interruption. It is 100% autonomous.
